Jegede Tops Akure’s Wide-Margin Victory In Ondo Election

As Ondo poll result proliferates in, in his own Akure South and North Local Government

Areas, the standard bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede won a broad-margin victory.

Reports from Press-Men states that the results were announced early morning on sunday

by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in its collation center in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, inspected by this reporter.

Jegede secured 47,627 votes in Akure South to beat All Progressive Congress (APC)

nominee Rotimi Akeredolu, who received 17, 277 votes. 3,623 votes were received by the Zenith Labour Party candidate (ZLP’s), Agboola Ajayi.

Akeredolu received 9,546 votes in Akure North; Jegede, 12,263; and Ajayi, 1,046 votes.

The breakdown of the figures shows that with 33,067 votes in Akure, Jegede defeated his

closet challenger, 30,350 in the South and 2,717 in the North.

Ondo State’s Jegede, a previous attorney general and Justice Commissioner, comes from
the Ondo Central senatorial district.

Akure South, Akure North, Ifedore, Idanre, Ondo West, and Ondo East are the Local
Government Areas in Ondo Central.

that the current governor, Akeredolu, is in the early lead in the contest.
