In the Lacasera region of Mile 2, Lagos State, on Thursday, a fuel tanker and some vehicles were destroyed by fire.
Based on report from the media team, when he lost control of the vehicle, the motorist was
said to be transporting the gasoline to a destination in the state,
the tanker overturned, leading in a leakage that purportedly exploded.
Adding that no deaths had been confirmed, Jamiu Dosunmu, the State Fire Service
spokesman, stated that the fire had been extinguished.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA),
noted that some vehicles parked around the tanker were also affected by the fire hazard,
indicating that attempts were underway to extinguish the burnt truck from the road.
“The Agency received distress calls concerning the above which occurred around 1 am and activated its emergency response plan.
“On arrival, it was discovered that a fuel tanker loaded with PMS had overturned and burst into flames due to the oil spillage.
This in turn affected some stationary trailers parked inwards Apapa.
“A combined team comprising Lagos Fire, Police, Federal Fire, and Agency Responders have extinguished the flames.
“Operation to remove the affected vehicles is ongoing while road users are encouraged to use alternative routes.” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
