Oyewale Femi was elected into office as the New President of the National Association of Online Security Reporters (NAOSRE) on Thursday in Lagos.
Reports from Flashywap states that in the next two years, Femi, a competent columnist
and publication-editor-in-chief of Sahara Weekly and Sahara TV, is to chair the affairs of NAOSRE.
The president elect appreciated the electoral body, NAOSREC, for executing a hitch-free election in his inaugural speech.
He also appreciated Mrs. Favour Benson, the governing board and members of the former
executives for the immense trust in him through their votes, assuring “Not to disappoint.”
Oyewale called for intensified media initiatives to enhance peace and stability in Nigeria in
regards to the heartfelt #EndSARS mass demonstrations that upturned and misaligned the security bearings of the nation.
“Understandably, NAOSRE members must prepare to undertake the stressful yet inexorable
push to enthrone balanced security reportage for a better and secured Nigeria.”
He continued to advise members “to always stand on the path of truth and avoid illogical claims capable of twisting the wheels of a secure nation.”
“I, therefore, call on members for more dedication. Let us strive to make NAOSRE the
association to beat as well as set the pace for security reportage in Nigeria,” he appealed.
In her statements earlier, the past president of the association, Favour
Benson, appreciated members during her time in office for their collaboration.
Nevertheless, she charged for unity and dedication in order to attain the goals of NAOSRE.
It was defined as free , fair and credible by Ugbechie Francis, a professional in information system who witnessed the election.
“From what I see today, NAOSRE’s credibility is not in doubt. Members are full of enthusiasm
to take frontline roles in security reportage not only in Nigeria but across the Continent,” he indicated.
